이 작품은 '아카시아공작' 연작의 연장선에서, 전통 궁중회화인 일월오봉도의 상징적 요소인 해와 달을 모티브로 삼아 새로운 시각을 더한 작업이다. 일월오봉도는 조선 시대 왕의 권위와 우주 질서, 조화로운 통치를 상징하는 도상이지만, 본 작품에서는 그 전통적 이미지 위에 아카시아 잎과 공작의 형상을 중첩시킴으로써 전통과 개인, 권위와 자연, 고정성과 유동성의 경계를 탐색하고자 했다. 해와 달 사이에 선 공작의 모습은 이중적 존재의 균형, 즉 남성과 여성, 낮과 밤, 인간과 자연의 조화를 상징한다. 공작은 화려함과 고요함을 동시에 품은 존재로, 작품 속에서는 존재의 자기 확장과 정체성의 재구성을 담아낸다. 또한 이는 한국적 전통 도상에 대한 새로운 해석이자, 자연을 통해 개인의 내면을 성찰하고자 하는 작가적 시선이 반영된 결과물이다. This work is an extension of the Acacia Peacock series, incorporating the sun and moon motifs from the traditional Korean royal painting Ilwol Obongdo (Painting of the Sun, Moon, and Five Peaks). While Ilwol Obongdo traditionally symbolized royal authority, cosmic order, and harmonious governance during the Joseon Dynasty, this piece overlays that imagery with the forms of acacia leaves and a peacock to explore the boundaries between tradition and individuality, power and nature, permanence and fluidity. The peacock standing between the sun and moon embodies a balance of dualities—masculine and feminine, day and night, human and nature. As a creature that holds both splendor and stillness, the peacock becomes a symbol of self-expansion and redefined identity.
