삶은 예상하지 못한 방향으로 우리를 데려간다. 어떤 씨앗은 비옥한 땅에 떨어지고, 어떤 씨앗은 척박한 땅에 떨어진다. 그러나 중요한 것은 씨앗이 떨어진 장소보다 그 안에 담긴 생명의 힘일지도 모른다. 바람과 비, 햇빛과 그늘을 지나며 씨앗이 자신의 색을 피워내듯, 인간 또한 저마다의 환경 속에서 삶의 리듬을 만들어 간다. 《파도의 춤》은 하나의 푸른 점에서 시작되었다. 작가는 점을 하나씩 찍고 이어가며 화면을 채워 나갔다. 작은 점들은 물과 물감의 농도에 따라 서로 다른 깊이와 결을 만들고, 반복과 축적을 통해 거대한 파도의 형상으로 확장된다. 화면을 흐르는 푸른 물결은 실제 바다의 모습이면서 동시에 삶 속에서 끊임없이 일어나는 감정과 시간의 파동을 상징한다. 오랫동안 나는 음악을 형태로, 마음을 색으로 표현할 수 있을지를 고민해 왔다. 점을 찍는 반복적인 행위는 마치 명상과도 같았고, 물의 흐름에 몸을 맡긴 채 이어진 흔적들은 하나의 리듬이 되었다. 예측할 수 없는 물의 움직임과 반복되는 점의 축적은 즉흥적인 선율처럼 화면 위에서 춤춘다. 수채화라는 물성을 사용하지만, 그 안에는 동양적 사유가 스며 있다. 한 점, 한 점을 쌓아 올리는 과정은 일필일획의 정신과 닮아 있으며, 자연과 호흡하며 내면의 풍경을 바라보는 시간이기도 하다. 《파도의 춤》은 거대한 성취의 이야기가 아니다. 삶이 만들어내는 굴곡과 파동, 그리고 그 흐름 속에서도 자신만의 색을 잃지 않고 살아가는 존재들에 대한 찬가이다. 화면 위를 유영하는 푸른 물결처럼, 이 작품이 보는 이들에게 현재라는 순간을 온전히 느끼고 삶의 리듬을 함께 즐기자는 작은 초대가 되기를 바란다. Life often carries us in unexpected directions. Some seeds fall on fertile ground, while others land in barren soil. Yet what ultimately matters is not where the seed falls, but the life force it holds within. Just as a seed unfolds its own colors through sunlight, rain, wind, and shade, each person creates a unique rhythm while moving through the circumstances of life. *Dance of the Waves* began with a single blue dot. One dot led to another, gradually expanding across the surface of the paper. Through subtle variations in the amount of water and pigment, countless dots accumulated to form layers of depth, texture, and movement. The flowing blue waves are both a depiction of the sea and a metaphor for the emotional currents and rhythms that shape human life. For many years, I have been interested in translating music into form and emotion into color. The repetitive act of placing dots became a meditative process. Guided by the movement of water, each mark evolved into part of a larger rhythm. The unpredictable flow of watercolor and the gradual accumulation of dots create a visual cadence that moves across the surface like an improvised melody. Although the medium is watercolor, the spirit of the work is deeply rooted in Korean aesthetics. The process of building the image dot by dot reflects a contemplative approach similar to the discipline of traditional brushwork—an attentive dialogue with nature, time, and the inner landscape. *Dance of the Waves* is not a story of grand achievement. Rather, it is a celebration of the rhythms, turns, and currents that shape our lives. Like waves moving freely across the sea, the work invites viewers to embrace the present moment, discover their own rhythm, and join in the dance of life.
